In search of Korean food..at Korea itself

What are the joys of travelling specially when you are in the new place? Well for , I just love to be a part of that new environment where I visit, because that gives a different taste and the taste makes more tastier when it comes with food.

Okay, there is beautiful scenery, meeting strangers in unfamiliar places, the relaxing train rides…but I would say “food” definitely tops the list because that will fulfill our stomach as well as strengthen when we are in the voyage.

When it comes to travelling around Korea, be sure to remember that each and every region of Korea boasts its own unique characteristics, and that is non other than the food.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) began its “Korea Gusuk Gusuk 2010 (Nook and Cranny of Korea 2010)” campaign. It’s a sequel to the 2006/2007’s “Where Is It Here?” campaign, and 2008’s “That Spot in That Movie & Drama,” and 2009’s “Live Learning for Children.”

Specially this rice wrapped with the lotus leaf reminds me of my very own home-town food specially on the ocassion of Ratha Yatra festival or the so called "kang -Chingba " in our local terms.
I wonder what would be the taste of this Korean rice but I know my home-town "Kichdi", awesome taste with divine flavour added by other side dishes or the items to eat along with the rice.

The campaign features :

“Boiled rice wrapped with lotus leaves” of Gyeonggi-do Gimpo region
“Clam stew” of Jeollabuk-do Buan region
“Boiled bamboo shoots” of Jeollanam-do Damyang region
“Olchaengi guksu (noodles made from dried corn flour)” of Gangwon-do Jeongseon region
“Heotjesabab (a type of bibimbap) of Gyeongsangbuk-do Andong region

….among other numerous regional dishes of Korea.

These advertisement videos will be aired seasonally in the S/S and F/W categories.

One more stuff which always instigate me to go for hunting in each and every "Korean so called santhong -sizang" to look for the tender bamboo shoot as we does eat but in different ways...

Sometime I just wonder of seeing all these unique similarities between "Mine n Them"..
Friends , those who are in Korea please enjoy all these above given delicacies , I am sure you all gonna love these.
And I am sure , those who are away from Korea will love to read this article ans will enjoy reading and watching the pictures of these delightful mouthwatering eatables..

The Power of Performing Art

We all know that the Korean music Samul Noori has its own unique character and tune that enchant everyone so easily by their act and the tune but the moder fusion Korean instrument music is also another complimentary style of art in the field of sounds ans the music I have ever come across in Korea.

Here I would like to showcase some of the picture I have captured from the staged which was displayed for the people who have come to visit the Jejong statue near the Blue House , or the heart of the Seoul City.

Incheon city..one of the amazing place in South Korea

Incheon City, is one of the South Korea's third largest metropoltant city, after Seoul and Busan. As the largest seaport on the west coast and home to the country's largest airport, Incheon International Airport, Incheon has become one of the South Korea's most important transport hub.

In the 21st century, Incheon has transformed into a global business den centered around the high-technology and futuristic Songdo International City, which is home to South Korea's tallest building, the 305m supertall Northeast Asia Trade Tower.

Incheon is regarded as part of the greater Seoul metropolitan area due to part of it bordering the capital, and the fact that the Seoul Metropolitan Subway and the Incheon Subway systems are linked. Incheon is, however, a major city in its own right and is a separate jurisdiction from Seoul.

‘Inspiring Night in Korea’

The Korea Tourism Organization and the 2010-2012 Visit Korea Year(s) Committee kicked off its inaugural tourism PR event, “Inspiring Night in Korea,” yesterday i,e 23rd of june 2010 at Changdeok Palace in central Seoul.

The annual event was organized by the nation’s tourism authority in cooperation with the VKC to boost awareness of the country’s fledgling tourism industry.

Under the auspicious banner: “Korea, Be Inspired,” KTO President Lee Charm and VKC chairman Shin Dong-bin presided over the opening in front of a crowd of some 1,000 guests made up of travel industry personnel, expats, and local and foreign tourists.

Lee was joined by Culture Minister Yoo In-chon and first lady Kim Yun-ok, who later appointed “Winter Sonata” actress Choi Ji-woo as an honorary envoy to Visit Korea Year’s smile troupe -- a group selected to be hospitality representatives of Korea.

Lee later said, “As an inducted historical site on the UNESCO World Heritage list, I am ecstatic that we were able to hold this event here at Changdeok Palace.” He added, “It is important that we not only showcase the beauty of our architecture but have visitors relate to our culture by understanding the many hidden stories behind our historical sites that live on intangibly.”

The way the entire production rolled out was a welcome change from the bombastic presentation a lot of these types of events showcase.

There was various item for the guests, plenty of real estate all throughout the palace to decide for themselves from where to stat, what to see and experience.

The event began at 7 p.m. with a troupe of actors dramatizing the day in the life of a Joseon King and Queen.
Visitors were given a chance to try out the many traditional Korean confectionaries called “dasik,” experience life inside a temple, and the opportunity to be treated with oriental medical practices of the royal court.

“Global Goodwill Ambassador” and star chef Edward Kwon unveiled his latest unorthodox fusion cuisine with a completely different take of the age-old summertime poultry dish, samgyetang -- his was ice cold. While not very appetizing in theory, both creations were surprisingly hearty and flavorful.

The official start of the event began with KTO President Lee Charm and Visit Korea Year Committee chairman Shin Dong-bin’s welcoming address, with the former clad in a gray hanbok.

Folk singer and samulnori veteran Jang Sa-ik performance was the centre of the stage, whose song steel the viewer's heart and mind.

Hype for G20 Summit in Seoul city

The G20 was established in 1999, in the wake of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, to bring together major advanced and emerging economies to stabilize the global financial market. Since its inception, the G20 has held annual Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors' Meetings and discussed measures to promote the financial stability of the world and to achieve a sustainable economic growth and development.

And this is going to be the first time in an Asian continent G20 summit is going to host by South Korea. Getting of this madea remarkable achievement for Asia as well as fro South Korea to showcase what the country have achieved and what they can do here .

We all know that The Republic of Korea is honored to chair the Group of Twenty in 2010.

Well in this connection I got a chance to have a smallsession or a kind of interview with the Arirang TV ans this is also because of the Presidential Council of Nation Branding "World Students in Korea". I myself and another blogger fren from the same umbrella get an opportunity to have a short session in front of the camera regarding the G20 . Well I do not know much about the the summit except some which I get information from the newspaper but interacting with him as well for this short session gives me a broad view regarding the up comming G20 Summit at Seoul city.

In this I have learned from my Brazilian fren who is quite active at the moment representing Brazil in Y20 Summit which is a model of G20 Summit form by the foreign students here in Korea.

And thanks to Elyza for giving me company and taking shots while we are having sessions.
