Korean Wave: Hallyu, Soft cum Smart Power

Joseph Nye in his book "Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics" differentiate into Hard Power and Soft power. According to Nye Soft Power means the ability to shape the preference of others, i.e , getting others to want the outcomes you want by co-opting rather than coercing them.

Now South Korea can be mentioned as one of the developed country exercising their soft power very smartly taking Hallyu as the medium to reach out its popularity.Not only country like China, Japan , Vietnam and Russia but the Western Countries as well as Latin American and the South Asian countries are also spreading the Hallyu factor.

There was a time where Hallyu's reach was limited within the boundary of East Asian countries and sometime near the boundary but now its crossing its own boundary gaining name fame and the popularity. The important factors are soft and sleek Korean movies and drama which has over power the heart and mind of most of the viewers.

But not only these but the Korean cultural products, foods , and the Korean tourism also draws attention of the tourist. Kimchi one of the important food item of every Korean plays an important role highlighting the Korean nature and Korean popularity. As Kimchi itself is one of the nutrious food item which can cure diseases too.

Korean Traditional drama's which are broadcasting in the most of the national channels in the other countries play an important role to show how strong the Korean values are and how the Koreans preserve their values and ethics. This also plays an important role in buliding the relationship with The Korean culture and the viewers.

After watching the Korean movies and drama as well as the pop songs most of the Asian youth as well as the Korean cultural geeks follow from slothing style to the haie styles. They imitate the behaviour and the nature of the Korean which has potrait in the drama's and the Movies.

Not only this but the Government also try to to promote the brand ambassador to upgrage the Korean cultural power internally as well as externally which is quite important for a nation to reach in the global arena as a rich country and mesmerised the other countries and pull the tourist and showchase the beauty of Korean Dynamic adventure.

Since South Korea acknowledge, Hard Power is not always a medium to reach have a good relationship with different country but having being Soft and Smart power can make more good relationship interms of making diplomatic relationship and friendship ties with other countries in the field of progressive and stability.
